Mission Priorities
We are not storm chasers. We are not replacing emergency services. We are here to support the recovery mission after the danger passes.
Veterans Against Diabetes is coordinating support for verified community needs across Northwest Indiana, including emergency supplies, food and water assistance, clothing and hygiene items, senior and veteran check-ins, support for families affected by storm damage, volunteer coordination, and connections with churches, shelters, nonprofits, businesses, and local community partners.

100% of funds raised for Operation After the Storm will go directly toward verified relief efforts. These funds will not be used for Veterans Against Diabetes general operating expenses.
We are committed to full transparency, responsible stewardship, and public accountability. Our mission is simple: identify real needs, connect the right people, and help our communities recover with compassion, coordination, and action.
How You Can Help
Volunteer
We are looking for community volunteers, local businesses, churches, veteran groups, riders, students, and skilled helpers who are willing to assist where needed.
Volunteer areas may include sorting supplies, delivering items, helping with food or clothing drives, checking on vulnerable neighbors, supporting local relief events, connecting us with verified needs, and skilled cleanup help only where safe and appropriate.
Donate Supplies
We may accept supplies based on verified need and storage capacity.
Possible needs include bottled water, nonperishable food, hygiene items, cleaning supplies, baby supplies, pet supplies, and gift cards.
Please contact us before dropping off large donations so we can direct supplies where they are needed most.
Transparency Promise
- Donations are restricted to verified storm relief
- Funds will not be used for VAD general operating expenses
- Major purchases and supply deliveries will be documented
- We will work with local partners when possible
- Updates will be shared as the mission develops
