VETERAN VISION
AI-POWERED ACCESS. REAL-WORLD INDEPENDENCE.
Veterans Against Diabetes Inc. is helping eligible blind and low-vision U.S. veterans access Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses, hands-on training, support resources, and a community built around practical everyday use.
IMPORTANT:
Submitting an interest form does not guarantee a pair of glasses. Distribution depends on confirmed eligibility, available inventory, and completion of the required handoff and training process.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Veteran Vision is intended for eligible blind and low-vision U.S. veterans who meet the current program requirements.
Before glasses are distributed, VAD will verify eligibility using the applicable program criteria and required nonprofit verification process.
PRIORITY CONSIDERATIONS MAY INCLUDE:
-
Veterans with significant vision loss
-
Veterans who may benefit from hands-free access to information and AI-assisted everyday tasks
-
Veterans facing transportation or access barriers
-
Veterans who can benefit from hands-on training and follow-up support

NO PURCHASE OR DONATION IS REQUIRED.
Veterans do not have to donate, pay VAD, or join any group in order to receive training or support through the program.
TRAINING MATTERS
The glasses can assist with everyday information and accessibility tasks, but they are not a medical device and should not replace a cane, guide dog, mobility aid, or other established safety tools.
HOW VETERAN VISION WORKS
VAD uses a controlled handoff process so every pair is documented, properly assigned, and supported.

1. EXPRESS INTEREST
The veteran completes the Veteran Vision interest form.

2. VERIFY ELIGIBILITY
VAD confirms the veteran meets the current program requirements before a pair is assigned.

3. ASSIGN & DOCUMENT THE GLASSES
VAD records the required inventory information for the specific pair being distributed.

4. COMPLETE WARRANTY INFORMATION
The recipient receives the official warranty/donation documentation associated with their glasses.

5. SET UP & TRAIN
VAD provides hands-on assistance with setup, basic operation, accessibility features, privacy, safety, and practical everyday use.

6. VETERAN TAKES OWNERSHIP
Once the handoff is complete, the glasses go home with the eligible veteran.

7. OPTIONAL FOLLOW-UP
Participants may choose to share feedback about what worked, what did not, accessibility challenges, and ideas that could improve the experience for other veterans.
THE GOAL IS SIMPLE:
VERIFY. TRAIN. SUPPORT. FOLLOW THROUGH.
TRAINING BUILT AROUND REAL-WORLD USE
Veteran Vision is not just about handing someone a pair of glasses.
VAD provides practical training so each veteran understands how to use the technology, where it can help, and where caution is still required
     TRAINING INCLUDES:

-
Basic setup and controls
-
Using Meta AI features
-
Voice interaction and hands-free assistance
-
Everyday accessibility use
-
Privacy and account awareness
-
Safe handling and charging
-
Understanding AI limitations
-
Where to find official support and warranty resources
AI CAN BE WRONG
AI-generated descriptions and responses may be incomplete or inaccurate.
Veterans should use judgment and verify important information when safety, navigation, health, money, or other high-impact decisions are involved.
DO NOT REPLACE ESTABLISHED MOBILITY TOOLS
Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses do not replace a white cane, guide dog, mobility training, medical device, or other established accessibility and safety tools.  They are an additional technology resource.
PRIVACY MATTERS
Participants are trained to respect the privacy of others and understand when the glasses may be capturing images, audio, or information.
If a pair of glasses is ever used by a different person before final distribution, VAD follows the required reset procedures before reassignment.

VAD Veteran Vision | AI Glasses Community
This community is operated by Veterans Against Diabetes Inc. and is not an official Meta or Ray-Ban support channel.
PRESCRIPTION LENSES & ACCESSIBILITY OPTIONS
Some veterans may need prescription lenses or additional optical support to use their Ray-Ban Meta frames comfortably and effectively.
VAD is exploring ways to help reduce barriers to prescription-lens access, but no formal LensCrafters partnership, discount, or donated-lens program has been established at this time.
IMPORTANT
Prescription compatibility, lens options, pricing, fitting requirements, and warranty considerations can vary by frame and optical provider. Veterans should confirm those details for their exact Ray-Ban Meta model before ordering lenses
CURRENT GUIDANCE
Prescription lenses may be available through participating optical providers, including some LensCrafters locations. VAD will update this page if a verified prescription-access program or nonprofit discount becomes available.
YOUR EXPERIENCE CAN HELP THE NEXT VETERAN
Veteran Vision includes an optional follow-up process so VAD can understand how the glasses perform in real life.
Participants may choose to provide feedback approximately 30 days after receiving their glasses.
FEEDBACK MAY INCLUDE:
-
What features are most useful
-
Accessibility barriers or challenges
-
Setup or training issues
-
Everyday tasks the glasses help with
-
Situations where the technology falls short
-
Ideas for improving training or support
-
Suggestions that may help future veteran participants
PARTICIPATION IS VOLUNTARY
Providing feedback is not required to receive or keep the glasses.Veterans may complete the feedback form independently, dictate their responses, or receive assistance recording their answers.VAD will protect personal information and may use aggregated feedback or specifically consented stories when reporting program outcomes and accessibility observations.
YOUR VOICE MATTERS.
Real-world veteran experience can help VAD strengthen training, identify barriers, improve future distributions, and provide useful feedback to organizations supporting accessibility technology.
