Veterans Against Diabetes, Inc. is a veteran-led, IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) public charity based in Northwest Indiana.
We are a Veteran-Centered 360° Support Network built to combat diabetes, strengthen veteran well-being, and address the interconnected barriers that can prevent veterans from living healthy, stable, and independent lives.
Veterans rarely face one challenge at a time. Health may intersect with housing, food insecurity, employment, transportation, disability, vision loss, mental health, recovery, isolation, disaster, and family hardship. We look at the whole veteran—not just one diagnosis or one moment of need.
Veterans remain the mission.
WHO WE ARE
WHY WE EXIST
Veterans Against Diabetes exists to combat diabetes and stand beside veterans through education, support, resource navigation, partnerships, and practical assistance.
We identify needs, locate existing resources, verify remaining gaps, connect the appropriate partners, follow up, and document the outcome.
We do not attempt to become every service provider or duplicate work already being done well. We strengthen connections so veterans and families can reach help faster and organizations can work together before a crisis occurs.
HOW WE LEAD
VETERANS FIRST
Every program, partnership, and decision begins with one question: Will this strengthen the health, stability, independence, or future of veterans and their families.
WHOLE-PERSON SUPPORT
Diabetes affects more than blood sugar. We consider the health, housing, food, employment, accessibility, transportation, family, and community conditions surrounding the veteran.
CONNECT—DON’T DUPLICATE
We identify existing capabilities, respect each partner’s authority, and connect people with qualified resources before creating something new.
ACCOUNTABILITY IN ACTION
We verify information, protect charitable resources, document results, communicate honestly, and measure success by the difference made—not the attention received.
OUR VISION
ONE MISSION. THREE GENERATIONS.

Strengthening the Whole
We believe communities become stronger when organizations know how to find one another and work together for the common good.
WHERE WE ARE GOING
VAD will continue developing practical programs, partnerships, community support networks, veteran resources, health initiatives, emergency-support efforts, and collaborative community missions. We are committed to building step by step, ensuring that every effort is grounded in reality and driven by the actual needs of those we serve. We are not just dreaming of a better future; we are actively constructing the foundations to support it through disciplined effort.
OUR GOAL
Our goal is not to become the biggest organization, but to become one of the most useful. We want to create a legacy of service that outlasts any single individual, built on the leadership principles of accountability and responsibility. By focusing on utility and effectiveness, we ensure that every dollar, every hour of volunteering, and every resource shared creates a tangible difference for the veterans and families who rely on our strength and our mission.
THE IMPACT
Every program and partnership should answer one question: Did we leave the veteran, family, organization, or community stronger than we found it? This focus on impact over recognition ensures that our efforts remain pure and our results remain measurable. We lead with initiative, bringing people together to solve problems that others might simply ignore, ensuring that no one has to stand alone in their time of need.
